NSSF SHOT Show Gets Bigger & Better Every Year
Every year I visit SHOT Show in Las Vegas to meet with customers, network and learn about new products and trends in the firearms industry. From the newly added Supplier Showcase to the variety of companies and products featured, the 2017 show did not disappoint.
The Supplier Showcase was a new event dedicated to materials suppliers, held the day before the show. It was an incredible opportunity for companies in need of injection molding or other services to meet with suppliers and discuss their projects. Empire’s booth had steady traffic throughout the day, and I look forward to furthering discussions with the people I met about how we might work together.
At the main exhibition, attendance was once again up. Products showcased by the 1,600 exhibitors were vast and varied, including law enforcement and military firearms, western-style guns, full-size and compact pistols, knives, concealed carry clothing, holsters, telescope sights, lights, camping equipment, duck blinds, Tasers, drones, and more.
A lot of new products were featured, as well as updated products. Taurus dedicated a large section of their booth to their new.380 Spectrum pistol, which is completely customizable. Customers can go online and select the frame, TPE side/back strap, and slide accent colors.
Besides color, visible details like texture, alignment, and uniformity are important to the end-user. Achieving the ideal look and feel for firearms requires expertise in design and tooling.
At Empire, we’re proud to have on our team highly skilled toolmakers who plan, manufacture, and validate tools for plastic injection molding. Empire is also now offering tooling-only services for customers who prefer to do their own molding.
